A tyre fire that burnt for more than three days at a Melbourne junkyard has been declared safe.
The Broadmeadows fire started in a pile of dumped tyres about 9am on Monday.
On Monday, a giant plume of smoke from the fire was carried high into the air, choking surrounding suburbs and could be seen across Melbourne.
