Victoria short-changed its Gonski education reform spending by $800 million, Treasurer Tim Pallas says.
The Secretary of the Education Department wrote a letter confirming the previous government fell $800 million short in its school funding commitments.
"I've spoken to the Secretary of Treasury, and I've also viewed the letter that was provided by the Secretary of Education to (Education Minister) James Merlino, and I'm convinced that that tells an accurate reflection of what's occurred here," Mr Pallas told reporters on Wednesday.
