Vic gold mine hit with compliance notices

A Victorian gold mine will be issued with compliance notices over its tailings storage, blastings, air quality monitoring and environmental management plan.

Energy and Resources Minister Lily D'Ambrosio said the notices on Stawell Gold Mine will be issued in response to an independent audit by industry expert Dr Peter Beck.

She said the report found there was no evidence the community's health and safety was at risk from the mine's operations, but some of its practices could be improved.
