Vic footy player crashes into parked ute

When a kangaroo crashes into your windshield, it is not normal to get a handshake and an apology.

But William Farrer is no normal roo.

The Ouyen United Kangaroos player had eyes only for the ball in the Sunraysia Football and Netball League on Saturday when he crashed onto a ute parked on the boundary.

Farrer went shoulder-first into the windscreen and shattered it.

"He kind of bounced off the bonnet and took out the aerial on the way," photographer Glenn Milne told AAP on Thursday.

"I thought the driver was going to get fairly angry and get into a biff so I kept taking pictures."

The crisis was averted with an apology from Farrer, who checked on the driver and then continued playing.

It's not the first time the ute driver has copped a broken windshield, Milne said.

"He's had a football smash the windscreen but a player is a first."

Breaking windshields may be a bad omen for Ouyen United who, with Farrer back on the field, went down by six goals to South Mildura.
