Vic fisherman found dehydrated

A man has been found a day after separating from a mate on a fishing trip in northeast Victoria.

Damien Cahill, 44, was reported missing on Monday following a fishing trip in the Big River area in Burnt Bridge, near Mansfield on Sunday.

Police say the Wantirna South man had been reported missing in similar circumstances before, and had left the area by hitch hiking.

The police airwing found Mr Cahill soon after police launched a public appeal for help. He was dehydrated but in "good spirits", according to a Victoria Police Facebook post.
