Two men have been charged with assaulting a pair of firefighters who attended a blaze on the outskirts of Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to a Bacchus Marsh address overnight to reports of a fire burning on a day of when there was a total fire ban.

Two occupants of the home allegedly became agressive towards the two male firefighters, who sustained minor injuries and did not require hospital treatment.
