Vic firefighters reject 19% pay deal

Victoria's firefighters union has rejected a 19 per cent pay increase put forward by the CFA in a bid to end a long-running dispute.

Its members have instead fully endorsed a draft recommendation from the Fair Work Commission that would see them receive a 17 per cent pay rise and keep certain safety measures in place.

CFA chief executive Lucinda Nolan wrote to all CFA firefighters on Wednesday offering the 19 per cent increase over six years to 2019 but United Firefighters Union secretary Peter Marshall says the offer, delivered to firefighters at 6am, is a bid to derail the Fair Work process.
