Vic farmers better equipped to fight pests

Victorian farmers are expected to benefit from a more accessible supply of pest animal baits in their fight against foxes, wild dogs and rabbits.

Manufacturers of 1080 perishable or "fresh" bait will be allowed to make the products at mobile locations after the state government signed off on a change to the code of practice.

Before this, the bait products could only be made at a few licensed premises across Victoria.

Labor says changing the code of practice to allow mobile manufacturing will increase the supply of fresh bait products to farmers in remote areas.
