Vic family holds intruders at bay

A family with two young children has fended off two men armed with a baseball bat who tried to force their way into their Melbourne home.

The men tried to enter the Armadale house in the early hours of Tuesday while two others waited outside, police say.

The family held the door shut against the would-be invaders then called police and the four men fled in a dark Audi SUV.

Police believe the same men later smashed their way into a Templestowe house and threatened a woman with a pole before stealing her Porsche.
