Vic education official breached guidelines

A former education department executive negotiated and accepted a high-level job and shareholding in a private company he was responsible for awarding contracts to.

The unnamed executive breached department guidelines, says Victorian Ombudsman Deborah Glass, who wants an overhaul of the public service.

"This case, and the many preceding it, highlight repeated instances of a failure to understand or manage conflicts of interest,' Ms Glass said as her report was released on Thursday.
