Vic duo charged over cop carjack attempt

Two teenagers have been charged with breaking into homes and trying to carjack police officers in Melbourne.

The 17- and 19-year-old allegedly broke into two homes in Keysborough about 1.30am on Wednesday.

The pair tried to enter another house before trying to carjack the officers, who were in an unmarked vehicle.

The Noble Park teenagers were arrested after a short chase and have been charged with theft of a motor vehicle, home invasion with an offensive weapon and attempted aggravated carjacking.

The 19-year-old faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday where he was remanded to reappear on 24 January 2020, police said.

The 17-year-old is expected to appear in a children's court at a later date.
