Vic driver who killed two men loses appeal

A Victorian driver whose dangerous driving caused a fiery crash that killed two people has lost a bid to overturn his conviction and cut his jail sentence.

Nicholas George was in 2016 sentenced to 12 years in prison, with a minimum of seven and a half years, after he was found guilty of two counts of culpable driving at trial.

The Court of Appeal on Thursday agreed with George that the trial judge used a forbidden expression when instructing the jury, but dismissed his appeal because that error had not resulted in a substantial miscarriage of justice.
