Vic could home 5000 refugees: Andrews

Up to 5000 Syrian refugees could find new homes in Victoria.

Premier Daniel Andrews says while he would leave it to the experts to determine where and how to house the refugees, Victoria could be counted on to take thousands.

"I do hope to speak to (Prime Minister Tony Abbott) about how we can share the financial effort, in a partnership, to make sure that we give 4000 to 5000 people a second chance at life," he told reporters in Melbourne on Thursday.
