Vic murder victim's former home searched

The former home of Albert Pisani in regional Victoria is being searched by police, following information he was murdered there almost 30 years ago.

The body of Mr Pisani, 27, was found in a shallow grave in bushland in June 1987.

It's not known why or exactly when he was killed but police believe Mr Pisani was involved in a dispute at the State Electricity Commission's briquette factory in Morwell, in the days leading up to his disappearance.

An extensive search of Mr Pisani's former home in Moe began on Thursday as police believe advances in forensic technology will help them locate evidence not previously discovered.

When his grave was found in 1987, the eldest of nine children had been missing for nearly a year.

His family reported his disappearance in October 1986.

In November, police announced a million-dollar reward in the hope it would spur a group of people - who lived in Moe at the time and potentially know who killed Mr Pisani - to come forward.

At the time, his sister Carol Ward said her family had been struggling to deal with his death for 29 years.

"He was my eldest brother, and was much loved by his family," she told reporters in November.

"I don't know why nobody's come forward, but I hope somebody does come forward and give us some piece of mind."

Mr Pisani had no known links to criminal gangs or activity, according to police.

An anonymous caller to Crime Stoppers, who gave credible details of how Mr Pisani's body was disposed of, is being urged to contact police again.
