Police will decide whether they will keep sifting through a Melbourne rubbish tip where possible human remains were spotted after a day's search didn't yield any results.
A worker at the Hampton Park tip glimpsed what might have been human remains on Monday morning before they were covered by incoming rubbish, prompting a search by police.
They say they will assess the situation before deciding whether to continue the search on Tuesday.
