A Victoria Police sergeant has been charged with child sex offences dating back almost two decades.
The unnamed sergeant, who works in the southern metropolitan region, faces multiple charges of sexual penetration of and indecent acts with a child aged under 16, relating to alleged offences in 1997 when he was a constable.
The charges were laid by detectives from Taskforce Salus, which investigates complaints of sexual harassment, predatory behaviour and sex discrimination within Victoria Police.
