Vic cop charged with assaulting girlfriend

A Victorian police officer has been charged with imprisoning, threatening and assaulting a woman when they were in a relationship.
The senior constable, who cannot be named, allegedly seriously injured the woman on May 13 last year in an attack that resulted in a string of criminal charges.
The 37-year-old police officer appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday to face nine charges, all arising out of the same day.

His offences include four counts of assault, two counts of threatening to seriously injure the victim, one count of threatening to seriously injure another person, and one count of unlawful imprisonment.
The senior constable is currently suspended from Victoria Police.
