Vic car driver crushed beneath truck

A man has spent three hours trapped in his car while it lay flattened under a truck on a Melbourne freeway.

The man was conscious the whole time his car was wedged between two trucks, with one truck's wheels sitting above the driver's area.

Emergency crews used cranes to lift the truck off the top of the car.

Ambulance Victoria group manager Tony Elliott said the man had chest and internal injuries, and possibly a fractured pelvis.

"The man's car somehow ended up under one of the trucks, with the truck's wheels coming to rest just above the driver area," Mr Elliott said.

"Initially, paramedics couldn't see the man from the waist down because he was heavily trapped."

The man was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition.

Police say the car was stopped in a line of traffic at a Princes Freeway off-ramp during Thursday morning peak hour when it was rear-ended by a truck.

In all, three trucks and two cars were involved in the collision at Point Cook.

The driver of the second car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
