Vic bushwalker rescued after cliff fall

A bushwalker is in a stable condition in hospital after falling 50 metres down a cliff west of Melbourne.

The man in his mid 20s was walking along Werribee Gorge on Sunday morning, when he fell.

He used his mobile phone to call emergency services, which attended soon after.

The ambulance helicopter found him, and directed CFA and SES crews to his location.

Rescuers abseiled to the man and brought him up in a rescue stretcher about four hours after he fell.

The man sustained an injured arm and a laceration to his body.
