A body found in western Victoria is believed to be that of a Mount Gambier man killed in 2013.

The body was found by police during a search of bushland near Dergholm on Thursday morning.

Missing persons squad and cold case detectives received information about the possible location of the body of Gordon Hamm, who was reported missing in July 2013.

Two men were charged with murdering the 34-year-old at Nelson near the South Australian border.

A third man was charged with being an accessory to murder.

Mark James Moreland, 37, Christopher Nathan Tippens, 30, and Tai Thorp, 22, all of Mt Gambier, were found guilty of manslaughter in December last year and will be sentenced in February.

Forensic examinations will be carried out to determine if the body is Mr Hamm.
