Vic barbershop axe brawl, five arrested

A man has been struck in the neck with a tomahawk in a brawl in a Melbourne barbershop that saw five young men arrested.

Police raided six properties on Friday morning across Melbourne's west and north west suburbs shortly after 7am and arrested five males over the brawl.

The arrests came after up to 15 men entered the shop in Footscray on June 23 and began arguing with people inside.

During the fracas, a man was allegedly struck in the back of the neck with a tomahawk and $600 was stolen from the store's register.

A 17-year-old boy will be charged with affray, intentionally causing injury, recklessly causing injury and assault with weapon.

Two 15-year-old boys and a 20-year-old man will be charged with affray and a 19-year-old man for affray and committing offences whilst on bail.

Both men have been bailed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on November 8 and the youths have been bailed to appear in a children's court at a later date.
