Vic abseilers rescued on Phillip Island

A pair of injured abseilers has been rescued after becoming trapped on cliffs on Phillip Island.

Rescuers had to hold the men's heads above water while water police, emergency services, paramedics and surf lifesavers worked to free them from a crevasse at Cape Woolamai.

The men are thought to have been working on the cliffs during a controlled burn before falling several metres.
