UFU gives full support to split Vic CFA
AAP
The United Firefighters' Union says Victoria's controversial plan to split the CFA will overhaul the antiquated fire boundary system and won't affect volunteers.
Union secretary Peter Marshal said the boundary system hasn't changed for 60 years, meaning Melbourne suburbs like Melton and Springvale are still classed as rural.
Mr Marshall also backed the government's decision to link cancer compensation for firefighters into the one bill with the CFA changes, meaning MPs will have to vote for the controversial split if they want firefighters to get financial support.
