Two injured in Vic bike crash

Two men riding motorbikes with no lights and no helmets have crashed on a country Victorian road, just minutes after midnight on New Year's Day.

One man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries while the other is in hospital with minor injuries after they swerved to avoid each other.

Police said a 35-year-old Kyabram man was riding on Andrews Rd at 12.15am when another 35-year-old Kyabram man came along the road from the other direction.

Police believe the riders weren't wearing helmets and did not have lights on their bikes.

The men fell as they tried to avoid each other, with the first man taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The other man was taken to Goulburn Valley Hospital in Shepparton with minor injuries.
