The 25-year-old Gisborne man died when an allegedly stolen black Audi sedan ran a red light at 1am on Saturday and smashed into his car at the Melton Highway and Kings Road intersection, in Melton.
It's alleged the Audi then hit a motorcycle and came to a stop before its three balaclava-clad occupants ran off.
