Two men have been charged over an alleged crystal methamphetamine importation ring.

A joint Victoria Police, Australian Federal Police and Australian Border Force operation yielded 4.9 kilograms of crystal meth imported via international cargo and mail from Asia in December and January, a Victoria Police spokesman said.

Four men were arrested in raids on Wednesday in Melbourne, Caroline Springs and Kyneton.

A Melbourne man, 29, has been charged with three counts of importing commercial quantities of a border-controlled drug, and a Kyneton man, 31, faces one count of the same charge.

Both men were due to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Thursday.

A 29-year-old Surrey Hills man and a 36-year-old Taiwanese tourist were released pending further inquiries.
