Truck driver charged over Vic tram crash

A truck driver has been issued infringement notices after crashing into a packed tram during peak hour in Melbourne, sending 17 people to hospital.

The truck rammed into a busy tram near Melbourne Zoo about 8am on May 22, forcing the tram off the rails.

The infringements were issued for disobeying a red light and using an unsafe vehicle, police say.
