Truck crashes into AFL house on final eve

A delivery truck has crashed into the front entrance of AFL House a day before the grand final.

Police said the courier truck hit an overhead glass sign at the Docklands building at 10.40am.

The truck driver, a 48-year-old Glen Waverley man, was uninjured and is not expected to be charged.

The incident created a loud "bang" according to one onlooker.

"He came up onto the kerb and was very slowly edging towards the door," the witness told AAP.

"He's gotten way too close and the top of his truck shattered the glass awning outside the front door.

"It was a huge bang. It was certainly scary.

"The way things are in the world these days, you don't like to see trucks where they shouldn't be."

The onlooker said the driver, who was delivering AFL grand final records for Saturday's face-off between Collingwood and West Coast, was moving slowly so it was clear there was no ill motive.

"He jumped out and was quite sheepish, as you'd expect," he said.
