Trio on trial over remains in Vic river

THE BODY PARTS IN THE RIVER MURDER TRIAL

* An arm with a distinctive red devil tattoo surfaces in Melbourne's Maribyrnong River on February 5, 2015

* Other body parts are retrieved by police

* An image of the tattoo is released and the victim is identified as Brendan Bernard, 32

* Con Spaliaras, 32, Matthew Brennan, 38, and Edward "Nippy" Hill, 47, are charged with murder, all plead not guilty

* Defence barristers say the men all admit dismembering Mr Bernard, but there was no plan to kill him

* Lawyers for Spaliaras and Hill invite the jury to reach a verdict of guilty on the charge of manslaughter
