Total fire ban in Victoria
Total fire bans are in place for two Victorian districts where dry conditions will couple with forecast high temperatures.
The ban on Sunday will apply to the Mallee and Wimmera districts, with temperatures expected to reach the low 40s.
Country Fire Authority state duty officer Peter Lucas says those districts haven't received as much rain as the rest of the state.
"The state's northwest and far west is still very dry and ready to burn," he said on Saturday.
"Forecast high temperatures, combined with windy conditions, pose severe fire danger in the northwest and far west on Sunday."
Mr Lucas said February was traditionally the peak of the summer fire season, and urged residents to plan ahead and remain vigilant.
"Emergency services may not be able to come to your aid, so have a plan," he said.
"You and your family's safety is your responsibility."
