Tinnie terror accused fined over driving

One of the men involved in the so called "tinnie terror" plot has pleaded guilty in a Melbourne court to driving offences.

Shayden Thorne, 28, briefly faced the Melbourne Magistrates Court via videolink on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to six driving charges, including driving while suspended and driving without his L-plates.

Thorne, who is in custody for terrorism-related matters, was fined $2000 and given three months to pay.

Thorne and his five co-accused are charged with making preparations for incursions into foreign countries to engage in hostile activities.

Police say the plan was to join IS's growing faction in the Philippines.

Thorne's lawyer on Wednesday said there was no foreseeable release from custody for her client.
