Vic homes lose roofs in wild storms

Powerful winds have ripped off four roofs and damaged four more homes as storms hit regional Victoria.

Strong winds and heavy rain lashed towns near the NSW and Victorian border on Sunday afternoon, sparking 70 calls for help to the SES.

Three Strathmerton homes and a Rochester home lost their roofs, while four other Strathmerton houses had roof damage.

The SES had 35 calls about trees creating traffic hazards in the state's north-east, 25 calls about building damage, and five for flooding.

Overall there have been 130 calls for assistance across the state.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns of potential flash-flooding, hail and strong winds as the storm moves across Bright, Sale, Bairnsdale, Maffra, Orbost and Falls Creek.

The storm is moving across Gippsland, with no reports of damage yet to the SES.
