Three Melbourne properties razed by fire

A factory, a new apartment and a family home have gone up in flames in three separate fires in Melbourne overnight.

A factory storing wooden pallets was razed in Heidelberg North on Saturday morning, firefighters managing to control the blaze before it spread to a taxidermy factory next door.

In two other fires, a new vacant apartment was destroyed by fire in West Footscray on Friday night, and four people escaped a house fire in Highett that destroyed the rear of the home on Saturday morning.
