Cyclist fighting for life after Vic smash

Three cyclists have been hit by a car in regional Victoria, leaving one fighting for life and another with serious head injuries.

The men were riding on Black Forest Drive in Macedon on Monday morning when they were struck by the vehicle, which was travelling in the same direction.

A man in his 40s was flown to Royal Melbourne Hospital with head and spinal injuries.

"He has suffered very critical injuries and he is in the fight of his life to try and survive," Detective Sergeant Mark Amos told reporters on Monday.

The other two riders were also taken to hospital, one with serious head injuries and the other with minor injuries.

The driver, a 26-year-old Parkville man, is being interviewed by police.
