Test drive sends Vic cops in a spin

Police have impounded a car taken for a test drive by a prospective buyer in Melbourne after he was clocked speeding more than 50 km/h over the limit.

A 37-year-old Burnside man took the Mercedes for a test drive in Deer Park on Friday morning, but his joy ride came to an end when police stopped the man who was driving 91km/h in a 40km zone.

The car was impounded for 30 days, and the prospective buyer is expected to be charged on summons with speeding offences.
