Terrifying vision has emerged of the moment a cafe in Melbourne’s north-west was peppered in bullets as police arrest two men over the incident.

Authorities spotted multiple shots being fired at the business on Mount Alexander Road in Essendon North at about 2.45am on Friday.

A stolen SUV allegedly fired multiple shots in the Melbourne café overnight.

CCTV showed the moment that at least eight shots were fired toward the cafe from a white Toyota Kluger, smashing multiple panels of glass.

The SUV, which was reported stolen in May, was then seen leaving the street, and police followed it by helicopter through Keilor and into Taylor Lakes.

The pair inside the vehicle then allegedly stopped on Mahon Court before running into a home on Old Calder Highway, about 10 kilometres from the cafe.

Police arrested an 18-year-old and 20-year-old shortly after.

The owner of the business told 9News that he has owned the business for about 18 years and does not know why his shop has been targeted.

The two men are set to be interviewed, and an investigation is ongoing as police remain on scene.
