Tassie Uber driver caught drink-driving

A Tasmanian Uber driver has been caught drink-driving, with his blood alcohol level more the twice the legal limit, while a fee-paying passenger sat in his car.

The driver, 40, was stopped for a random breath test in Sandy Bay, Hobart and returned a breath test reading of 0.125.

"Whilst this type of offence in uncommon, police were extremely disappointed as Uber drivers are hired by the general public for a variety of reasons, including being the 'designated driver' after a night out," Tasmanian police said.
