A man has tried to rob a bank in Hobart before then holding up a department store.
The 47-year-old Gagebrook man entered a Westpac branch in Moonah on Tuesday afternoon and demanded money before fleeing the scene empty handed.
A short time later he held up a Harris Scarfe department store, making off with cash before being arrested later that night, police say, adding he didn't use a weapon during either hold-up.
