Students access porn at Melbourne school

Internet savvy primary school students accessed pornographic pictures on their iPads through a loophole in a basic filtering system.

Grade one students at Galilee Regional Catholic Primary School in South Melbourne recently accessed pornographic images on school iPads, triggering an investigation by the school.

Principal Frank Servello said the students had accessed the images because of an error in the school's internet filtering process, but said students were never able to access pornographic websites.

He said the pictures were viewed through a search engine image search, and that was a reminder that students are natural explorers.

"It has been immediately addressed and has ensured the same mistake cannot be made again," Mr Servello said in a statement on Tuesday.
