A Norwegian ferry is stranded in Corio bay after being moved from an illegal docking at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club Marina over the weekend.

The Queen of Melbourne arrived in Corio Bay over the weekend after an eight-month journey but owner Farooq Qamar still has no dock for his party boat.

Mr Qamar said he had been struggling to find a home for his ferry.

"Yes, I've made a mistake in not organising somewhere to dock before coming here but no one is allowing me to either," he told the Geelong Advertiser.

It is believed an unauthorised staff member at the yacht club gave approval for the ferry to be docked.

But club general manager Phil Clohesy said as soon as managers were made aware of the illegal docking, the ferry's captain was asked to move the boat because of safety issues.
