Solar to help power Melbourne's trams
AAP
Melbourne's trams will get solar power from a large plant in regional Victoria in a bid to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
The Victorian government will run a tender to build 75MW of new large scale solar farms, delivering $150 million in new capital investment and 300 jobs.
About 35MW of the new solar farms, to be built by the end of 2018, will be linked to Melbourne's tram network.
