Six teens injured after tree collapses on Lake Eildon campsite during wild weather

Six teenagers have been injured after a tree came down at a campsite two hours north-east of Melbourne.

The tree fell when wild winds hit Lake Eildon where the teenagers were camping.

The teens were lucky to escape critical injury, Ambulance Victoria confirmed.

The group received a range of injuries including broken bones, cuts, and bruises.

They were taken to hospitals in the Melbourne area to be treated.

The SES responded to over 650 calls for assistance last night as strong winds pummelled the state, bring down trees and some power lines.

The strongest wind gusts, up to 96km/h, were recorded in St Kilda.

In Carlton North 130 properties were left without power after two large trees took out power lines.
