Six teens charged over Vic home invasions

Six teenagers are in custody after they were charged over a series of Melbourne home invasions involving a machete-wielding gang.

The teenagers were charged following the crime spree across Melbourne's north and west in the early hours of Friday.

It's alleged the gang was armed with a machete, poles and wooden stakes when they raided homes in Caroline Springs and Greensborough between 1am and 4am.

Police say the gang also tried to smash their way into two houses in St Albans and Truganina, but were unable to get inside.

They stole money and four cars - two of which have been recovered.

Two men are due to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Saturday, while four teens aged will appear before a children's court at a later date.

All six were remanded into custody on Friday night after police arrested seven teens in Kings Park.

A 19-year-old Taylors Hill man and 18-year-old Kings Park man face charges of attempted aggravated burglary, attempted burglary, attempted theft and committing indictable offences while on bail.

Three 16-year-old boys and a 17-year-old boy face similar charges.
