Shots fired at Vic home with people inside

Bullets have been fired at a Melbourne home while a man and woman were inside.

Police arrived at Inez Court, Melton, about 2.45am on Thursday after a caller reported hearing a gunshot.

Officers patrolled the area but left after no one came forward.

Police were called back to the street, in the city's outer west, about 1.30pm after a passer-by saw a house with broken windows.

No one was home when police arrived, but a woman showed up later.

Police believe she was home at the time of the shooting, along with a man who is yet to come forward.
