Seven injured in five-car accident in Vic

Three people have been injured, one critically, following a five-car accident in southwest Victoria.

Traffic investigators believe a car crossed to the wrong side of the Western Highway near the Langi Ghiran State Park about 4pm on Thursday, causing a number of drivers to take evasive action.

At least five cars and seven people were involved in collisions, police said.

A man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital with life-threatening injuries, while two other people were taken by ambulance to Ararat.

Crash investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
