Seven car smash on Westgate bridge

Melbourne traffic has been thrown into chaos after several vehicles collided on the busy Westgate bridge.

At least seven vehicles were involved in two crashes on the bridge on Tuesday.

One outbound and three inbound lanes remain closed after the 9.50am smash, and police say motorists will be affected for some time.

Two people were taken to hospital but the extent of their injuries is unknown, a Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said.
