CEO who scammed Victorian biotech company out of millions to be sentenced

The chief executive of a Victorian biotech company who conned millions of dollars from her employer will be sentenced for her crimes.

Esra Ogru, 39, of Wheelers Hill, will be sentenced in the Victorian County Court on Friday.

She has pleaded guilty to seven counts of obtaining a financial advantage by deception, for her involvement in a scam while in charge of Phosphagenics.

Her plea hearing was told fake invoices and credit card claims were used to net $6 million from the company and a subsidiary, from 2004 to 2013.

Judge Felicity Hampel was due to hand down Ogru's sentence on Wednesday, but adjourned the case saying she needed more time.
