Family appeal to driver of fatal hit-run

The family of a cyclist killed in a Mother's Day hit-and-run crash near Geelong have appealed for the driver to hand himself in and end their pain and suffering.

Corio man Gordon Ibbs, 77, was killed after a car hit him as he was cycling on a stretch of the Geelong-Ballan Road in Anakie on May 10.

His daughter Charlene Christensen has appealed directly to the driver of a car seen speeding away from the crash.

"Please, for himself, and for us - be brave, and come forward and end our pain and suffering," she said on Sunday.

Ms Christensen said the driver cannot hide from the truth.

"He can run but he can't run forever and you can't have peace of mind," she said.

Police have released a FACE image of a man they want to speak to over the fatal crash.

Investigators believe at least one other person may have helped the driver after the crash.

A burnt out vehicle was found in Winchelsea two days after Mr Ibbs died.
