Cars lose control in icy alpine conditions

Icy conditions are being blamed for two cars losing control and rolling down an embankment in Victoria's alpine region.

The cars went off the Great Alpine Road in Cobungra just before 8am on Friday after they drove over black ice, police say.

A 42-year-old woman and 16-year-old boy have been airlifted to hospital with spinal injuries, while five others were taken to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.
