Relationship advice canned in Vic school

Girls who hug boys find it harder to say no to taking the relationship further, a Pentecostal Christian group says.

Students have been advised, through CityLife Church materials given during an outreach program at Melbourne's Fairhills High School, that when two people touch, the chemical oxytocin is released and binds together inside the brain.

Women produce more of the chemical, increasing their need to be touched again, the materials say.

The students were also told that having multiple sex partners was "almost like tape that loses its stickiness after being applied and removed multiple times".

A Victorian Department of Education spokesman said the information was "completely inappropriate" and an investigation is under way to find out how such information was allowed to be passed on.

Acting principal Russell Poulier said the program had been cancelled.
